Marketing TrendsOn Thursday, April 29th, the Greater Wilmington Area Postal Customer Council (GWAPCC) held it’s first in-person educational Lunch & Learn event of 2021. The Cape Fear Community College, Union Station, in Wilmington, provided an exceptional and spacious classroom setting.

Participants enjoyed a welcoming catered box-lunch and opening session by a local mental health educator.  Jennifer Whitley of the South East Area Health Education Center addressed the topic of Resilience.  Ms. Whitley provided “Help Now Strategies” and engaged the room with activities to teach everyone how to refocus during times of stress and anxiety. 

During the event, names were drawn from raffles and prize-wheel spins to acknowledge the participants for their attendance and support of the PCC program.

A USPS Headquarters speaker addressed the audience next,  with an informative ZOOM webinar.   Al Gilbert, Sr. Product Development Specialist, presented on Emerging & Advanced Technology for Direct Mail Success.  He explained that mail has the potential to offer greater value by engaging customers with technologies such as Augmented Reality, Video in Print and Integration with Voice Assistants.

Several attendees traveled from Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, NC to participate and get involved; including offering to host and present future educational events.  In addition, the event was attended by USPS HQ Sales Executive, Linda Gordon and USPS Mailing Standards Specialist, Beverly Hall.  They made themselves available for Q&A at the close of the event.

Irresistible Mail brochures were passed out to reinforce the topic of discussion, together with pamphlets encouraging NPF attendance. 

Evaluations completed at the close of the event were 99.9% Excellent, with comments, such as:   ”Site and content were amazing”.  In addition, three new members signed up to join the GWAPCC.

The Greater Wilmington Area PCC is excited that the event was a huge success and the PCC is looking forward to future events, including PCC week in September.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Postal Service today announced its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 (Jan. 1, 2026 - Mar. 31, 2026). Controllable loss, which excludes certain expenses that are not controllable by management, was $642 million for the quarter, compared to controllable loss of $848 million for the same quarter last year.

SWANNANOA, NC — The U.S. Postal Service continues plans to relocate the Swannanoa Post Office, formerly located at 2133 US 70 Hwy, to a yet-to-be-determined location within one mile of the former location. Relocation is being considered because the previous location was damaged beyond repair.
